Baseball RPS

Baseball RPS is a deck-building card game that incorporates the concept of Rock, Paper, Scissors (RPS).

You will play against your opponent using action cards that have Rock, Paper, or Scissors types.

Do you know what baseball and Rock, Paper, Scissors (RPS) have in common?

They both have a 1/3 chance of winning. Throughout over a decade of baseball history, the On Base Percentage (OBP) has almost always hovered around 0.333, in both the live-ball era and dead-ball era. As a big baseball fan, I found this number fascinating and decided to create a game with a similar 1/3 chance mechanic: Rock, Paper, Scissors (RPS)!

In our game, you play an action card with an RPS type. If you win, your batter gets on base. Each action card also has action points ranging from -1 to 3, making it possible to play both long ball and small ball strategies. It’s that simple!

During each at-bat, you and your opponent (AI) simultaneously play an action card, just like in RPS. If you win while at bat, your hitter will advance based on the action points (BB, single, double, triple, or home run). On defense, you need to either draw or win to get the batter out. Winning with a higher action point difference increases the chance of a double play, but be cautious with draws as they can advance base runners, just like in real baseball.

How to Play

1. Choose an action card to play (it is a card that are either yellow, red, or blue). 
2. Drag the card to the brown slot in the middle on your side (the brown area represents a mound
3. Your opponent (AI) will play a card simultaneously, just like in RPS.
4. If you win while at bat, you advance to a base with BB, 1H, 2H, 3H, or HR.
5. A draw may advance a runner based on the action point difference, but the batter will not get on base.
6. If you draw all your cards, you will only draw up to 3 cards from the discard deck.
7. Most rules are the same as in baseball!

This is my first prototype, and I want to see how people like it! Here are the planned future updates (subject to change):

1. Field players, pitchers, and manager cards with stats that may buff or debuff action cards, number of hands, etc. For example, a high-defense team will have a bigger hand, and a starting pitcher will bring a card back to the draw deck.
2. Setting up batting orders, and adding batter abilities and fielding. Fielding will impact hand size.
3. Manager cards that will impact the mix of action cards.
4. Improved visuals—many graphics are placeholders, so I will work on making them prettier.
5. Adding other languages.

Timeline

Since this is not my main project, I will work on it whenever I need a break from my main project. There is no set timeline, but if you like the concept and want to see a full version, please leave a comment. If many people like the project, I will consider working on it more regularly.
